We've been getting some feedback in which some people have reported that they can only get the audio for the Introduction to "The Cask", but not for Parts 1,2 and 3. It seems we have remedied this problem. If you can't hear the audio, click the alternate audio link directly below the text box in each "Part" to download the audio chapters to your computer and listen to them there. The Making Of...

The following recording of The Cask of Amontillado recently came to my attention in a most astonishing manner. A month or two ago, I was reviewing a collection of audio tapes I had made back in the late 80s and early 90s at various venues in and around New York and had not heard since.

I am usually very hard on myself when reacting to my recordings and how I perform them. This time was no excpetion. However, to my great surprise, one stood out in clear distinction from the others, which delighted me to no end. And that is the one you are going to hear now. It is my rendering of Edgar Allan Poe's The Cask Of Amontillado accompanied by some enchanting sound effects and music.

But, the astonishing thing about it is I don't remember ever recording such a version as this. I played it over and over, hoping I would eventually recall the circumstances, and then I set myself to guessing and finally figured out what had happened. A small group had me record the story in a Manhattan studio while simultaneously inserting a mix of music and sound in a sound proof control room.

Later, I was given a copy of the tape which I put in my brief case and where it stayed for a few days, until eventually I got it home and stashed it away on an upper shelf in my New York apartment, without ever having heard the finished product. Well, several years passed until just recently, when I happened upon it and gave it a spin. I was knocked out! So, here it is, now on my website, and all dressed up as a visual as well as an audio presentation.

I hope you enjoy it. We reccomend that if you haven't visited this portion of the website before, we advise that you read the intructions.
