The Dark Shadows Festival
Burbank, California July 2008

Frid’s Program Footnotes
WHEN HE GETS A CHANCE

For starters, these two years of "happy returns" to the Dark Shadows Festivals have been sadly lacking in my attending or making appearances, however brief, at other activities...either arranged by management…or by fellow cast mates themselves who previously had made Dark Shadows episodes work so well…all those years ago.

Of course, this absence of mine at other activities had nothing to do with deliberateness, but simply with carelessness…in not organizing my materials much earlier  before the actual festival dates.
I  actually began to prepare for Dark Shadows 08 at Burbank as far back as a week or so after the close of Dark Shadows, Tarrytown New York, mid-august 2007.

And so what happened? The effort began to degenerate into fits and starts during the late fall of 2007. Throughout the early months of 2008, the "effort" really began to  get entangled with production , direction , salable table items to say nothing of "ongoing" testing of various story lines ( hilarious and tragic ) And then there were the signing of 2000 photos for every banquet ticket sold. How to ship boxes galore not only from east to west but from Canada to the U.S...etc. etc. etc.

And so, on the afternoon of July19 2008, almost a year later, I left my room at the Burbank Marriott Hotel at 4:27 pm...and still not ready... carrying my script and pencil…a pencil with a reliable eraser for last minute changes… and groping my way to the auditorium and to a coffin… especially arranged for the occasion…as I tried to get a tight grip on the gist of Action 1 with Willy, and of Paragraph 1 of the program itself.

And so how will the future play out?. Keep in touch.  jf

The sample of our 3-man Evil Incarnate originally found on the front of the site has now found a new place here under:

A NEW SPIN ON DIGITAL

Where else will you find a 3 character scene both spoken and listened to by one actor?

We are presently in the act of inventing...re-inventing, really...a three image presentation of the text of "Wooing"...that's to say, with three separate motion pictures on the screen at one time.

Sometimes I cannot resist the notion of the "Tragedy of Richard III" being entitled

“The Comedy of Richard III”.  Were it not for its slaughter-house image with so many presumed victims in its short time frame."

This outlandish suggestion appears in the context of our new digital "Catching up with Evil Incarnate".

In order to get things going...we have temporarily omitted the "printed copy" from this presentation.  This in hopes to place the bulk of our efforts on the preparation of the major focal point of our work.  The Wooing Scene.

Please have patience as the presentations load.

On with the digital viewing of The Wooing of the Lady Anne Neville

from our Evil Incarnate series

This depiction of the climax of the wooing of Lady Anne has been a goal of ours for longer than we care to admit...

...and still remains an ultimate goal for us to achieve.
